Reaper Weary Cottage ~ Glen Rosa ~ Isle of Arran

Reaper weary is a stylish conversion of the old stables and threshing mill that is attached to Glen Rosa farmhouse. Dating from 1825, Reaper Weary once offered accommodation to an assortment of animals: pigs, cows, sheep, cats, dogs and horses; only they were not so fortunate as to reside in the lavish rooms that now make up Reaper Weary. If the weary reaper (from Tennyson’s celebrated poem ‘The Lady of Shallot’) was to find himself staying at Reaper Weary, he would never again think of earlier toils.

The generous accommodation is all on one level and is easily accessed. A large porch gives way to a spacious, open planned sitting and dining room. Stylishly furnished, there are two French windows, which open out to the front and back gardens. Off the sitting room, is a large en-suite bedroom, with a king size bed (linen provided), it is furnished with Oriental and antique furniture. French windows open out to the back garden. The en-suite comprises, wash hand basin, bidet, toilet and a capacious walk in power shower (towels provided). The galley kitchen is fitted with integrated appliances, oven, ceramic hob, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and a full compliment of kitchen utensils.

There is another bedroom, again with a king size bed, it is also furnished with Oriental and antique furniture. French windows open out to the back garden. There is a bathroom with a whirlpool bath. There is a large back garden with seating, a small stream and a trampoline. There is also a private seating area at the front that overlooks fields and out to sea. The cottage is centrally heated and there is constant hot water. There is an electric ‘multi fuel style’ stove with open doors. Private, off road parking is available for two cars. Located two and half miles from Brodick pier and two miles from Brodick Village. The nearest pub and restaurant is just over a mile away.
